OUR BEAUTIFUL BABIES NEED HELP

Hendrix and Joplin found outside when theywere only 8 weeks old and have been in foster care since August 2009.  This brother and sister duo was diagnosed with eyelid agenesis.  This is a developmental disease where all or part of the upper eyelids is absent.  This disease is more prevalent in domestic short hair and Persian cat breeds.  Without normally functioning eyelids, they will have significant corneal disease.  The type of treatment depends on the degree of eyelid agenesis.  They are currently being treated with lubricating therapy (eye drops) to decrease the frictional irritation of the hairs on the cornea.  In most cases, however, treatment is surgical.  After their last checkup the veterinary ophthalmologist recommended cryosurgery (freezing) to decrease the amount of hairs rubbing on the cornea which will improve comfort and decrease the current corneal inflammation and irritation.  The surgeries for both Hendrix and Joplin will cost approximately $1,500. Please find it in your hearts to help Hendrix and Joplin by making a donation to help with these costs.

Joplin & Hendrix, after a short recover from surgery will be available for adoption,  we would love to keep this rockin’ pair together.  This brother sister team are young, very sweet and loveable, they love to play, play and tumble and play! You get the picture!! They may look like adults but they still act like children!! Despite their apparent eye problems both kitties from time to time enjoy an afternoon of bird watching, oh don’t forget the squirrels...that can be tail twitching excitement.  These two enjoy curling up around the house for an afternoon nap. After nighttime treats they run upstairs to wait for mom to get ready for bed and then settle into their night time spots for a good night's sleep. Don’t miss out on this loveable pair!!
